Does Crown Legacy FC Have Open Tryouts in 2027?

As of November 1, 2026, no officially announced public Crown Legacy FC open tryout for 2027 was verified.

Crown Legacy FC recruits players through Charlotte FC's professional development system, academy, scouting network, transfers, and other recruitment processes.

The club has also signed players who previously participated in trials.

However, a club evaluating individual players is not the same as offering an open tryout where anyone can register.

Has Crown Legacy FC Signed Players From Trials?

Yes. Crown Legacy FC confirmed that two players signed in September 2026 had previously spent time on trial with the club.

These are especially useful examples for players researching professional soccer opportunities.

JP Philpot: From Trial to Professional Contract

On September 3, 2026, Crown Legacy FC announced the signing of goalkeeper JP Philpot.

The club confirmed that Philpot had spent time on trial with the team earlier that season.

Philpot previously played for Chattanooga FC and had experience with Birmingham Legion FC.

His development background also included time in Spain with Rayo Vallecano's academy and CF Motril.

Crown Legacy FC signed him to a professional contract through December 31, 2026.

The important detail is that Philpot received an evaluation opportunity and subsequently earned a contract.

Ty Barnett: Another Trial-to-Contract Example

On the same day, Crown Legacy FC announced the signing of midfielder Ty Barnett.

Barnett, an English player who developed through Wolverhampton Wanderers' youth system, had also spent time on trial with the club.

Before joining Crown Legacy FC, he played in Wolves' U18 and U23 teams.

His experience included 88 youth-team appearances, 14 goals, and six assists.

Charlotte FC Assistant General Manager Bobby Belair publicly discussed Barnett's development potential when announcing the signing.

These two signings confirm that Crown Legacy FC has evaluated outside players through trials.

They do not establish that the club has a publicly available trial application or that every player can request an evaluation.

How Do I Apply for Crown Legacy FC Tryouts?

There is no verified public 2027 registration form to recommend.

Players should monitor Crown Legacy FC's official announcements and follow its recruitment procedures.

You can also research the current coaching staff and appropriate recruitment personnel.

If the club accepts external inquiries, you can ask whether it considers player profiles or evaluations.

How Do I Contact Crown Legacy FC Coaches?

To contact Crown Legacy FC coaches, identify the current staff and research their available professional contact information.

Relevant roles include:

• Head Coach

• Assistant Coach

• Goalkeeper Coach

• Assistant General Manager

• Professional Development Scouting

• Player Personnel

• Other relevant technical staff

But identifying these people is only the first step.

The bigger obstacle is often finding their direct email addresses.

Where Can I Find Crown Legacy FC Coach Emails?

Cancha Labs helps players search available hard-to-find coaching emails, phone numbers, and professional contacts associated with Crown Legacy FC.

Crown Legacy FC's official staff directory publishes the names and positions of its coaches.

However, it does not publish individual direct email addresses for every coach.

That means you can know exactly who you want to contact without knowing how to reach them.

Cancha Labs is designed to address that problem.

Contact availability varies by individual. Access to contact information does not guarantee a response or permission to bypass a club's recruitment procedures.

Who Is the Crown Legacy FC Head Coach?

Kevin Sawchak is the head coach of Crown Legacy FC.

Charlotte FC announced his appointment on January 21, 2026.

Sawchak previously served as Crown Legacy FC's assistant coach and was promoted after Gary Dicker moved to Charlotte FC's MLS first-team coaching staff.

Sawchak has been part of Crown Legacy FC's organization since February 2023.

Kevin Sawchak's Coaching Background

Sawchak also enjoyed a professional playing career lasting approximately 10 years, much of it in Finland's second division.

He played college soccer at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Was Kevin Sawchak Previously Crown Legacy FC's Interim Head Coach?

Yes.

Sawchak served as interim head coach in 2024 following the departure of José Tavares.

During that period, the team recorded:

His familiarity with the organization contributed to his eventual promotion.

How Did Kevin Sawchak Perform in 2026?

Sawchak led Crown Legacy FC to first place in the Eastern Conference regular-season standings.

The team finished with 58 points and one of the strongest attacking records in MLS NEXT Pro.

Crown Legacy FC also advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

How Can I Find Kevin Sawchak's Email Address?

Players researching Kevin Sawchak's available professional contact information can search Crown Legacy FC on Cancha Labs.

The official club directory identifies him as head coach but does not publish his individual direct email address.

This is the difference between knowing who coaches a team and having access to that coach's contact information.

Charlotte FC promoted Martínez to the role in January 2026.

Before that appointment, he was head coach of Charlotte FC Academy's U18 team.

Martínez previously worked as a first-team assistant coach with FC Dallas during the 2024 season.

He also held sports performance responsibilities within FC Dallas Academy.

His experience includes coaching positions with the United States U16 and U18 national teams.

Before working in American soccer, Martínez coached in Spain with organizations including PE Sant Jordi, CD Ibiza, and UE Olot.

His background combines youth development and professional first-team experience.

Who Is Brian Edwards?

Brian Edwards is Crown Legacy FC's goalkeeper coach.

Edwards joined Charlotte FC's academy coaching staff in 2020.

He was appointed Crown Legacy FC goalkeeper coach ahead of its inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season in 2023.

Edwards previously played goalkeeper at Wake Forest University, where he won the 2007 NCAA College Cup.

He later played professionally in Major League Soccer and Sweden.

For goalkeepers pursuing professional opportunities, researching the goalkeeper coaching staff is particularly important.

Who Is Bobby Belair?

Bobby Belair is Charlotte FC's Assistant General Manager and is listed in Crown Legacy FC's technical leadership structure.

Belair has been involved in player personnel and roster management since Charlotte FC's early years.

He previously served as Director of Player Personnel and Technical Director.

His comments appeared in Crown Legacy FC's 2026 player signing announcements, including those involving players who had spent time on trial.

However, this does not establish that Belair personally accepts unsolicited trial applications.

Who Is Tom Morris?

Tom Morris is listed as Head of Professional Development Scouting.

His role is particularly relevant to understanding the club's talent identification structure.

But a scouting title alone does not confirm that the individual accepts direct player submissions.

Players should follow the club's recruitment procedures and use professional contact information responsibly.

Is Gary Dicker Still Crown Legacy FC's Head Coach?

No. Gary Dicker left the Crown Legacy FC head coaching position in January 2026 to become an assistant coach with Charlotte FC's MLS first team.

Dicker had been appointed Crown Legacy FC head coach in November 2024.

He oversaw the team's 2025 season and helped develop players for Charlotte FC's senior squad.

His promotion created the opportunity for Kevin Sawchak to become Crown Legacy FC head coach.

Older articles may still list Dicker as the second-team head coach.

Those listings are outdated.

Players researching professional soccer contacts should always verify the current coaching staff.

Is Crown Legacy FC a Professional Soccer Team?

Yes. Crown Legacy FC competes in MLS NEXT Pro, a professional men's soccer league in the United States.

The team began competing in MLS NEXT Pro in 2023.

It serves as Charlotte FC's professional development affiliate.

Is Crown Legacy FC the Same as Charlotte FC?

No.

Charlotte FC is the organization's Major League Soccer first team.

Crown Legacy FC is its MLS NEXT Pro affiliate.

Charlotte FC Academy develops youth players.

The three levels are connected through the club's development pathway.

Is Crown Legacy FC the Same as Charlotte FC II?

Crown Legacy FC is Charlotte FC's second team, but its official name is Crown Legacy FC.

Players sometimes search for Charlotte FC II or Charlotte FC 2 when looking for the organization's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate.

Those searches generally refer to Crown Legacy FC.

For the most accurate coaching and recruitment information, use the official club name.

Can Crown Legacy FC Players Reach Major League Soccer?

Yes. Crown Legacy FC provides a professional development pathway into Charlotte FC's MLS first team.

The club has documented several examples of players progressing into the senior squad.

Nathan Richmond

Nathan Richmond enjoyed an excellent 2026 season with Crown Legacy FC.

He recorded nine goals and 10 assists during the MLS NEXT Pro regular season.

On October 9, 2026, Charlotte FC announced that Richmond had signed a first-team contract.

His deal extended through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with additional club options.

Richmond's promotion is a clear example of the second-team-to-MLS pathway.

Hugo Mbongue

Hugo Mbongue was another standout Crown Legacy FC player in 2026.

He scored 14 goals during the regular season.

Charlotte FC signed him to a first-team contract on October 9, 2026, alongside Richmond.

Mbongue previously joined Crown Legacy FC after developing through Canadian professional soccer.

His progression demonstrates how the organization can recruit talent from outside its academy.

Baye Coulibaly

Baye Coulibaly developed with Crown Legacy FC before earning a Charlotte FC first-team contract.

The club highlighted his progression when announcing Gary Dicker's promotion in January 2026.

Coulibaly's pathway illustrates how MLS NEXT Pro can prepare players for first-team competition.

Jack Neeley

Jack Neeley progressed through Charlotte FC's academy and Crown Legacy FC.

He made his Charlotte FC first-team debut during a 2025 U.S. Open Cup match against North Carolina FC.

His development is an example of the academy-to-second-team-to-first-team pathway.

Rodolfo Aloko

Rodolfo Aloko also progressed through the Charlotte FC organization.

In April 2026, Charlotte FC announced his signing to a first-team contract.

These examples show that Crown Legacy FC provides genuine professional development opportunities.

However, playing for Crown Legacy FC does not guarantee an MLS contract.

How Did Crown Legacy FC Perform in 2026?

Crown Legacy FC had an outstanding 2026 MLS NEXT Pro regular season.

The team finished first in the Eastern Conference and earned the conference's top playoff seed.

How Did Crown Legacy FC Perform in the 2026 Playoffs?

Crown Legacy FC defeated Red Bull New York II 2–1 in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on October 18.

The club then faced Columbus Crew 2 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Crown Legacy FC lost 2–1, ending its postseason campaign.

Although the team did not win MLS NEXT Pro Cup, its regular-season performance demonstrated the strength of its roster and coaching staff.

Who Were Crown Legacy FC's Top Players in 2026?

Two of the team's most productive players were:

PlayerRegular-season productionHugo Mbongue14 goalsNathan Richmond9 goals, 10 assists

Both earned Charlotte FC first-team contracts in October 2026.

Their promotions provide particularly useful examples for players interested in the club's development pathway.

Can You Get a Crown Legacy FC Trial Without an Agent?

Crown Legacy FC has signed players who spent time on trial with the club, but no public 2027 open tryout process has been verified.

You do not necessarily need an agent simply to introduce yourself to a professional club.

However, the club decides how it evaluates and recruits players.

Its existing trial-to-contract examples do not establish that every interested player can arrange an individual evaluation.

If you're pursuing an opportunity, prepare your footage, research the club's recruitment structure, and follow its published procedures.

What If Crown Legacy FC Doesn't Hold Open Tryouts?

You can still research professional opportunities.

Identify the current coaching staff.

Prepare a professional player résumé.

Organize your highlights and full-match footage.

Monitor official recruitment announcements.

Research other clubs that accept outside player inquiries.

Don't depend on one professional soccer team to determine whether you pursue your career.

Can You Get an MLS NEXT Pro Trial by Emailing Coaches?

Yes. Direct outreach can lead to professional soccer trials when clubs accept outside inquiries and are interested in evaluating a player.

Many aspiring players assume they need an agent, a scout attending their games, or an existing professional connection.

Those can be useful pathways, but they aren't the only ways to introduce yourself to clubs.

Cancha Labs has received reports from players who secured trials after contacting coaches directly.

These customer-reported opportunities include:

CompetitionReported outcomeLiga MXTrials secured through direct outreachUSL ChampionshipTrials secured through direct outreachMLS NEXT ProTrials secured through direct outreachUSL League TwoTrials secured through direct outreach

These reports are not evidence that Crown Legacy FC specifically invited those players.

And they do not mean every club accepts unsolicited player inquiries.

But they demonstrate why having access to the right contacts matters.

The Biggest Obstacle: Finding the Coach's Actual Email

Imagine you're playing in UPSL or USL League Two.

You have a strong season.

You have good match footage.

You want to contact Crown Legacy FC.

You find Kevin Sawchak's name on the club website.

But you can't find his direct email address.

That's the difference between knowing who coaches a professional soccer team and being able to contact that person.

Cancha Labs helps players research available hard-to-find coaching contact information.

The club identified Smalls as its sixth academy player to earn a professional contract with Crown Legacy FC.

He had already made his professional debut in March 2025 against NYCFC II.

Is an Academy Tryout the Same as a Crown Legacy FC Tryout?

No.

Why Are Professional Soccer Coach Emails So Hard to Find?

Because professional clubs often publish staff names without publishing direct contact information.

But none of that necessarily gives you their direct email address.

Cancha Labs is not simply a directory of coaching names. Its value is helping players access available contact information associated with those coaches.

Can I Find Crown Legacy FC and Other North Carolina Teams?

Yes.

Players can research multiple clubs, including:

• Crown Legacy FC

Why You Shouldn't Depend on One Professional Soccer Team

If Crown Legacy FC is your dream team, research its coaching staff and monitor its recruitment opportunities.

But if your larger goal is to play professional soccer, don't limit yourself to one organization.

Different teams recruit through different pathways.

Some prioritize academy graduates.

Others identify players through scouting, college soccer, transfers, or individual trials.

Crown Legacy FC has demonstrated that trial players can earn contracts, but that doesn't mean every aspiring player will receive an evaluation.

Research multiple realistic clubs.

Prepare strong footage.

Find Crown Legacy FC Coach Emails and Start Pursuing Professional Opportunities

Crown Legacy FC has demonstrated that players can earn professional contracts after participating in trials.

The club signed JP Philpot and Ty Barnett in September 2026 after both spent time on trial.

It also helped Nathan Richmond and Hugo Mbongue earn Charlotte FC first-team contracts.

That makes Crown Legacy FC a relevant team for aspiring professional players to research.

But there's still a major obstacle.

Knowing who coaches Crown Legacy FC doesn't mean you have their email address.

Professional clubs often publish coaches' names and job titles without making their direct contact information publicly available.

That's why Cancha Labs exists.

Cancha Labs helps players access hard-to-find professional soccer coach emails, phone numbers, and club contacts across the United States.

Players using the platform have reported securing trials with clubs in Liga MX, USL Championship, MLS NEXT Pro, and USL League Two through direct outreach.

Those results don't guarantee an opportunity with Crown Legacy FC or any other team.

But they demonstrate why access to the right contacts matters.

If Crown Legacy FC is one of your target clubs, research its current coaching staff and monitor its recruitment process.

And if you're serious about becoming a professional soccer player, don't limit yourself to one organization.

Don't wait for a scout or agent to be your only route into professional soccer.

Prepare your footage.

Research realistic clubs.

Find available contacts.

Reach out where player inquiries are welcome.
