USL Open Tryouts — Championship, League One & League Two

Looking for USL tryouts in the United States? Clubs competing in USL Championship, USL League One, and USL League Two have hosted open tryouts, player identification events, and preseason evaluations for players seeking opportunities in professional and pre-professional soccer.

Not every USL club holds public tryouts, and opportunities change each season. Below are real examples of teams that have announced tryouts, including professional clubs and their development teams.

USL Championship Tryouts

USL Championship is the second division of professional men's soccer in the United States. Some clubs hold open tryouts or player evaluation events, giving players an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in front of club staff.

Examples of USL Championship open tryouts:

• Indy Eleven — Indiana: Hosted a professional tryout on January 7, with a listed registration fee of $200.

• Brooklyn FC — New York: Announced a professional tryout for January 22, 2026, with a listed registration fee of $150.

Players looking for USL Championship tryouts should follow official club announcements and monitor preseason recruitment opportunities. Open tryouts are not guaranteed to result in a professional contract.

USL League One Tryouts

USL League One is a third-division professional soccer league in the United States. Several clubs have previously announced open tryouts, making this an important league for aspiring professional players to research.

Examples of USL League One open tryouts:

• Charlotte Independence — North Carolina: Previously announced professional open tryouts for January 27–28.

• Spokane Velocity FC — Washington: Announced a professional tryout for March 1.

• FC Naples — Florida: Previously announced professional tryouts for December 2–3.

• Chattanooga Red Wolves SC — Tennessee: Announced winter player combines for December 18–20.

• Fort Wayne FC — Indiana: Previously announced a professional tryout for December 6.

• Athletic Club Boise — Idaho: Announced professional tryouts for November 22–23, 2025.

• Corpus Christi FC — Texas: Announced professional tryouts for November 22–23, 2025.

• AV Alta FC — California: Previously announced a professional tryout for December 14.

These historical announcements demonstrate that some USL League One teams recruit through public events. Players should check each club's official website or social media accounts for current opportunities.

USL League Two Tryouts

USL League Two is a pre-professional summer soccer league that provides opportunities for college players, developing talent, and aspiring professionals.

Unlike USL Championship and USL League One, USL League Two clubs typically operate on a shorter summer competition schedule. Many teams recruit players ahead of their season.

Examples of USL League Two tryouts:

• Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC 2 — Pennsylvania: Previously announced a January 2 tryout.

• Charlotte Independence 2 — North Carolina: Previously announced a January 2 tryout.

• Miami Athletic Club — Florida: Announced a February 28, 2026 tryout with a listed $75 fee.

• Tobacco Road FC — North Carolina: Announced a March 28, 2026 tryout with a listed $50 fee.

• Nona FC — Florida: Announced tryouts for March 14–15, 2026.

• Salem City FC — North Carolina: Announced an April 25 tryout with a listed $75 fee.

USL League Two can provide a development pathway for players seeking exposure to higher-level clubs. Some organizations operate teams at both professional and pre-professional levels.

When Are USL Tryouts Held?

There is no single national USL tryout date. Clubs determine their own recruitment schedules, and many opportunities are announced only weeks before the event.

Based on the historical club announcements in this calendar:

• January–March: Several professional and pre-professional clubs have held preseason tryouts.

• April–June: Some USL League Two and other summer-league clubs continue player recruitment.

• October–December: Some professional clubs have announced winter combines and open tryouts ahead of the following season.

If you're searching for USL tryouts in 2026 or 2027, check the official announcement year carefully. Previous tryout dates can help identify clubs worth monitoring, but they do not confirm future registration availability.
