CT United FC Tryouts: How to Get Scouted, Join the Team & Contact Coaches

CT United FC Open Tryouts and Combines: November 2026

CT United FC has announced official open professional combines for players 18 years and older.

The announced dates are:

• November 7–8, 2026

• November 21–22, 2026

The combines give eligible players an opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of the club's technical staff. Standout participants may receive invitations to an additional invite-only combine planned for December.

The club encourages applications from players with professional, semi-professional, or elite collegiate playing experience.

Applicants must submit their playing background and video footage for review. Applying does not automatically guarantee acceptance or participation.

How to Get Scouted by CT United FC

Getting scouted by a professional club involves more than sending a highlight video.

Players should demonstrate that they can compete at the level required by MLS NEXT Pro.

If you want to pursue an opportunity with CT United FC:

1. Prepare recent match footage. Include clips that demonstrate your ability in your primary position.

2. Create a professional player résumé. Include your age, position, current club, league, playing history, and contact information.

3. Apply to official combines when eligible. Follow the club's application and selection process.

4. Identify relevant coaching staff. Research who works with the professional team and who may be involved in player evaluations.

5. Send a concise player introduction when appropriate. Ask whether the club accepts external submissions or has additional evaluation opportunities.

A direct email can help introduce your playing background, but it does not guarantee a trial, response, or contract.

CT United FC Coaching Staff and Contacts

CT United FC entered its inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season under Head Coach Shavar Thomas, a former MLS player and Jamaican international.

The club's publicly announced technical staff includes:

These appointments were announced ahead of the 2026 season. Staff responsibilities and availability can change.

A head coach oversees team performance, while assistant coaches support training and player development. Other technical staff may work in specialized roles rather than directly handling recruitment.

Can You Join CT United FC Without Playing in an MLS Academy?

Yes. CT United FC is an independent MLS NEXT Pro club, and its recruitment pathway is not restricted exclusively to MLS academy graduates.

The club's professional combine announcement specifically encourages applications from players with professional, semi-professional, or elite collegiate experience.

However, meeting the general experience criteria does not guarantee selection. The club determines which players are invited to evaluations and ultimately offered contracts.

CT United FC Academy vs. MLS NEXT Pro

CT United FC operates both a professional MLS NEXT Pro team and an MLS NEXT youth academy.

These are different pathways.

CT United FC — MLS NEXT Pro: Professional men's soccer, with player recruitment and evaluation handled by the club's professional operations.

CT United Academy — MLS NEXT: Youth development, including U15, U16, and U19 fully funded pathway teams in the 2026–27 season, alongside additional age groups.

Younger players should research the academy's age-specific recruitment process rather than applying to a professional combine for adults.
