USL Academy Tryouts: Youth Soccer Tryout Calendar
Looking for USL Academy tryouts? Clubs announce tryouts and player identification opportunities to recruit for their academy and development teams.
USL Academy connects youth player development with senior-team soccer. Its teams provide a pre-professional environment for emerging players, with opportunities to develop within a club’s broader pathway.
This calendar brings together 20 USL Academy tryout listings across 11 states, including California, Florida, Texas, New York, New Jersey, and Georgia.
The calendar includes past announcements to help you identify clubs that have offered evaluations. Dates reflect the listings collected; they are not recurring annual dates. Check the original announcement for the year, eligible ages, registration requirements, fees, and exact venue.
When Are USL Academy Tryouts Held?
Individual clubs organize their own recruitment, so there is no single nationwide USL Academy tryout date.
Our collection includes announcements with dates from January through December. March through June contains the largest group, with additional examples in September, November, and December.
These examples can help you identify clubs to monitor. Confirm which squad, age group, and season an announcement covers before registering.

Missed a USL Academy Tryout?
A past announcement can still help you identify a club to approach about future evaluations.
Contact the appropriate academy coaching staff with your age or birth year, position, current team, playing experience, location, and video. Ask whether the club has another evaluation planned or accepts player inquiries.
Be specific about the squad you want to join. An academy evaluation is different from an opportunity with the organization’s senior or professional team.

USL Academy Tryouts: FAQ
What is USL Academy?
USL Academy is a player development platform connecting academy players with senior-team soccer. The Academy League provides a pre-professional environment within participating clubs’ development pathways.
What ages play in USL Academy?
USL describes the Academy League model as geared toward top local players in the U15–U20 range, with roster rules that also allow limited overage participation. Individual tryouts can have narrower requirements, so check the announcement rather than assuming you qualify.
When are USL Academy tryouts held?
Dates vary by club. Our collection includes examples in January, February, March, April, May, June, September, November, and December. March through June contains the largest group of listings.
Is USL Academy the same as USL League Two?
No. They are separate competitions within the USL system. Some clubs operate teams in both, and an announcement may recruit for more than one squad.
Are USL Academy tryouts free?
Check the individual announcement. Do not assume an evaluation is free when no price is listed. Ask the club about registration fees and what they cover.
Can I attend a USL Academy tryout without an agent?
Check the registration instructions. If the club invites players to register directly, you can apply through that process without having an agent arrange the evaluation.
Does attending a USL Academy tryout guarantee a roster place?
No. A tryout is an opportunity to be evaluated. The coaching staff decides whether to offer a roster place or invite you to another evaluation.
Does joining a USL Academy team guarantee a professional contract?
No. Academy participation can be part of a development pathway, but selection for a senior team or professional contract is a separate decision.
Are all the tryouts on this page upcoming?
No. These are past listings. They help you identify clubs that have recruited through evaluations. Check the original announcement and contact the club for current opportunities.
What should I send an academy coach?
Send a concise introduction with your age or birth year, position, current team, playing background, location, and video. State which squad you are interested in and ask about the club’s evaluation process.
